World Wide Flood
So there was this world wide flood?
And it wiped everything out?
Really?
Pre-Commitment To The Theory Of Evolution
Many people will reject the idea of a world wide flood destroying all life because of a pre-commitment to the theory of Evolution, which claims that life was not destroyed in one event, but in many many events.
The reasoning often goes like this:
‘Because the theory of evolution is true, the Bible account of the creation of life on this planet and the flood account must be false’.
But Evolution Is A Fact!
Look at all the evidence for evolution, it is a proven fact!
Is that true?
We have to separate the difference between ‘data’’ and ‘a fact of evolution’.
‘Data’’ is not the same as a ‘fact of evolution’.
We can explore the data, but to assume that raw data is a fact that supports our theory is illogical and pretty sloppy thinking.
So What Happened To The Dinosaurs?
Fact:
They drowned - all dinosaurs that are fossilised are drowned, they died by suffocating in water and was then buried under layers of mud and silt during a mass extinction event.
Is that consistent with a flood event?
Where Do We Find Dinosaur Fossils?
Fact:
Dinosaur fossils are found in flat layers of sedimentary rock that were laid down rapidly and then covered over with other layers of sediment rapidly.
Polystrate Fossils
In fact, the sedimentary layers were played so fast that we find tree trunks fossilised between several layers of sedimentary rock that according to evolutionary theory, were laid down over millions of years.
If that is true, how is it that this tree trunk stood preserved for all of that time?
A Polystrate fossil, is a fossil that goes through different geologic layers.
There are many other instances of data, vast amounts, that contradict the evolutionary model, we give this one as a simple illustration of that.
Erosion Rates
In fact, we know the layers were laid down quickly and recently, because if they were not, the current rate of erosion would have removed them before another layer could have settled on them, there would be no layers if the extinction events had happened so far apart, the earth would just be one big beach…
When we look at the rate that cliffs erode, we can see that it would be impossible for them to have survived millions of years, if they can lose several metres of depth in a single year.
But Is that consistent with a flood event?
If there were a worldwide flood, in recent times, then we would expect to see cliffs still in the process of active erosion, but we would not expect to see that if the erosion was supposedly consistent over millions of years…
How Old Is Sedimentary Rock?
Sedimentary rock is formed of broken up rock material that often has varying ages.
So dinosaur fossils are as old as the rock they are in?
The formation of the fossils and formation of the rock were two completely different chronological events, so you cannot date dinosaur fossils by using sedimentary rock.
It is also important to note that fossilisation, the process itself has been observed as a rapid event in time and does not require millions of years, as stated in the text books.
Dating A Pot
To use one to date the other is like saying a pot made with mud that is a million years old, was made a million years ago.
The pot was made last week in a factory in china, the source materials however were much older. The same with fossils.
You cannot date a fossil by using sedimentary material, sedimentary material could be from the creation of the planet and the bible is not explicit about how old that is exactly, we just do not know the age of the universe, no one does.
So we cannot use sedimentary layers and claim we know the age of the fossils contained inside them.
Are Different Fossils Found In Different Layers?
Fossils are found in geological layers.
But they are not found in the same order as displayed in the textbooks, in fact, there is no known example of a geological column, consistent with a chronological order of a series of mass extinction events as theorised in the text books.
Mammals are often found below dinosaurs, animals that are currently alive like crocodiles are found with dinosaurs in the same layer and location, sea creatures are found fossilized at the top of some mountains, above those fossils that were supposedly after them.
The geological column does not exist in nature, the only place it exists as depicted in the textbooks, is in the textbooks themselves…
We would call that a genuine piece of science fiction if so many were not so enamoured by evolutionary theory…
We would however, expect such mixing if we accepted the flood account, but we would not expect it if we accepted the evolutionary account of fossilisation events.
So Why Is Evolutionary Theory So Popular?
Sections of society built on the worldview of secular humanism, is responsible for its promotion and is a core component of its propaganda.
We live in a society that is heavily influenced by groups of people that promotes secular humanism at every turn, and wants to present humanism, an existence without God, as the only viable option.
One of the foundational doctrines of that society, one of its core tenets, is that life sprang into existence from nothing and that evolution, a process of lots of happy accidents, created the life forms around us, until we are where we are.
You see, if you are pre-committed to rejecting God, if your pre-suppositions, those foundational beliefs you base your reasoning on, are biased towards that, then these teachings are very easy to accept, even to the point where we do not examine them for their validity, just accepting what appeals to us, rather than what is rational.
A Product Of Our Education
Because we are educated in that society, with those core values, it is very difficult for us to separate ‘data’ from our pre-determined bias towards accepting those teachings, they have been presented to us from the moment we started in education, they have been presented to us through the media constantly and they have been presented as indisputable facts!
In fact, it is so entrenched that to teach anything else or discuss any objections to evolution by a teacher is regarded as heretical and is often rewarded with the teacher losing their job!
And all that is really happening, is that ‘data’ is cited as proof of evolution, to justify a world view.
So What Are The Facts?
What do we know about the dinosaurs, what are the facts?
They drowned in a rapid world wide flood, were buried under sedimentary layers, that were laid down quickly, mixed in with animals that are alive today and in various orders of burial that does not match the geological column.
That is consistent with the Bible account of creation, but inconsistent with the textbooks claiming evolutionary theory as fact!
Were You There?
There is a difference between observational science and forensic science.
Much of evolutionary theory is based on forensic principles, by looking back into the past and trying to figure out what has happened.
Observational science is the process of observing something in the present, by testing it in present time.
The Scene Of The Crime
You are at the scene of a crime, a suspected murder.
You have a bullet, some blood on the floor and some ripped clothing.
The blood is from a victim that you have identified, as is the clothing.
The bullet is from a gun that you know belongs to an individual with a criminal record who lives 150 miles away.
Here is the question:
Do you know who shot the bullet?
No…
The Witness
You are at the scene of a crime, the same crime.
You have a bullet, the blood, the clothing and a witness of unimpeachable character to the crime who identify the killer as the guy who lives in the same apartment block as them and is not the same person who lives 150 miles away.
Do you know who shot the bullet?
Yes….
Time To Choose
So if you have two versions of events, two investigations, one where you are guessing what happened based on some facts.
And another where you have actual eye witnesses to the event.
Which investigation is going to be more accurate, the one with some general facts or the one that has the eye witnesses?
Who are you going to believe, the forensic scientist gazing into the past with a few pieces of data and a strong bias, or God who was there and knows what happened?
Forensic Science Vs Observational Science
We need to understand that forensic science is not the same as observational science.
When it comes to observational science, we have just not observed evolution, we have not seen a dinosaur turn into a bird, no one has seen that, when challenged the evolutionist will hide behind time, claiming that it just happens so slow we cannot see it or point to adaptation in an organism, which is the organism adapting based on its inherent ability to adapt, which is not the same as it growing a new pair of wings, which it has no inherent ability to do…
All anyone has seen is some fossils of dinosaurs and living birds, the part where dinosaurs turn into birds is purely a hypothetical leap, that is not justified by the data, there is insufficient data to assume that.
Even when evolutionary proponents try to string together some links, they are left without millions of transitional forms of evolution, that would be required, where are all the missing links?...
So Why Do So Many Reject The Creation Account?
So why do so many people reject the Creation account, why do so many ‘scientists’ reject it?
Why do they accept such sloppy scientific investigation when it comes to a question of origins?
After all, scientists are people that are purely rational, that have no bias, that seek truth for truth's sake right?
Of course not, we all have a bias, we all have a worldview and we all see the world through our special worldview glasses.
Suppressing The Truth
The Bible tells us that people are ‘wilfully ignorant’ of the flood, of the act of creation, that they wilfully reject the evidence that can be clearly seen, that God has personally revealed to them, each of them, individually.
That they suppress the truth so they can be free to sin, to behave in selfish self serving manner.
So a world in rebellion against God, when men are offered a theory that leaves them free to sin, that enables them to suppress the truth, whether they work in a laboratory or in a pub, evolutionary theory is going to be very attractive for them to hide behind..
Are We Evolved Pond Scum?
So if all we are is evolved pond scum, if there is no God, we can do what we like, but if there is a God, then we have a basis for moral objectivity, an absolute moral standard we can appeal to.
And that is not something that we are all that keen on sometimes, that sort of messes some things up that we know God is not going to want us to do.
So the acceptance of evolutionary theory is often motivated by expediency to sin, rather than truth…
But what if you were created with intentionality and purpose, that there is a reason you were born, what if you have value and hope for your life, wouldn’t that encourage you to explore where you came from with a little bit more purpose?
